Google Ads Validate-Only MCP Workflow: Prepare, Dry-Run, Confirm

How confirmation-gated Google Ads MCP keeps Claude-assisted writes safe: read account evidence, validate-only dry-runs, then per-action operator confirmation.

Google Ads writes are where "helpful AI" turns expensive fast. A single bad asset mutation or budget edit can burn hours of reconciliation. AdsAgent's Google path separates analysis from execution with validate-only dry-runs and per-action confirmation — the pattern operators should expect from any credible Google ads AI agent in 2026.

Validate-only before every write

Treat Google MCP tools in three layers: reads (hierarchy, billing setup, recent spend), prepares (asset or campaign mutations staged as proposals), and confirms (operator-approved execution after a validate-only pass). Claude or Cursor should never skip the middle layer because the model "sounds confident."

  1. Read the account context. Pull manager/customer structure, billing status, and recent spend through hosted MCP reads. Confirm the connected identity matches the account you intend to change.
  2. Run validate-only. Ask the agent to prepare the mutation and surface Google's validation response without committing. This is the cheap failure surface — use it every time.
  3. Confirm once. Only after you review the prepared payload should the confirm tool run. That keeps human-in-the-loop ad automation auditable instead of silent.

Where to go next

The full confirmation-gated contract — including which writes are exposed and how OAuth scopes map to tools — lives on the Google Ads MCP guide. Setup steps and client wiring are in the MCP onboarding guide.

If your team runs Meta and Google from the same Claude workspace, pair this workflow with the ad agents use cases page and the cross-channel comparison on Compare so operators know which channel owns which approval gate.
